I am the finalist to receive a small grant to make a short film about WAR for a NPR affiliated radio station in Boston.

I would like to interview young children from as many backgrounds/neighborhoods as possible in New York about their understanding of the concept of "War." Thinking about the current use of children in warfare, I would like to explore the idea of the child's "innocent" nature vs. social conditioning and necessity. Are we born with the ability to commit violence, or do we learn this from our environment?

私は、ニューヨークで、出来るだけ多くの多種多様な背景と環境で育った子供達に、彼らが「戦争」という概念をどのように理解しているか取材したいと思っています。昨今の、子供達が戦争に使われている状況を想うにつけ、私は、子供達の生まれ持った「無邪気さ（純真さ、罪のなさ）」と社会的な条件や必要性が対峙している現実について、探求したい思うのです。私たちは暴力を犯す能力を持って生まれてくるのか、それとも、これは環境から学んでゆくものなのか？

I am sorry for the delay- I received the grant to make "The Birth of War," thank you SO Much for sending the letter out to your friends! I have been going crazy trying to prepare to make a film for NPR ( National Public Radio- very prestigious American radio station) in a very short amount of time! I am interviewing Children about war. I wish I could interview some in Japan! Know any small children that will be in New York soon?

How is everyone in Japan? I want to come visit and focus on you guys!
