"The Conch of Joukyuuji (Joukyuu Temple)" from Shinkawacho (March 19th)

A long time ago, the village was hit by a string of suspicious fires. The villagers were alarmed by that and consulted a fortune-teller for guidance. The fortune-teller told the villagers to check the well. They checked the well and found a big conch in it. The conch was dedicated to the temple and from that point, the fire stopped.

The kids from Shinkawacho handcrafted the big conch, flame and smoke in paper mozaic style. They didn't get familiar with the touch of the starch glue at first, but soon they got used to it and got absorbed in putting the papers on the base boards. They carefully put the papers to cover the whole cardboard and finished a very high-quality piece of work.
