12. May 2008 a big earthquake occurred at Si-chuan in China.
About one year passed by now...
We visited schools there, show sign of recovery thanks to the help by Red Cross.

1) Children's smiles shine the future
"Ni Hao! "
in loud voices...
from KAWARAKO and IKUBENI elementary school.
(Reconstructing of their new school buildings are supported by Japan Red Cross Society.)
Children welcomed us with their smiles like sun and strong and beautiful eyes.
In makeshift prefabrications or cracked buildings ,
with molded notebooks and damaged desks, they study hard.
We told them our Merry concept simply and started to take their smiling pictures.
At first they seemed to be strained but they began to enjoy gradually.
"Xiao! Xiao!"( smile! smile! in chinese) could have started to be heard.
When there were shy children, other children said,"
You don't have to be strained, Let's smile together!!"
About 500 children
smiled, smiled, smiled...
Smiles need no words.
２）Beautiful messages children told
We also asked them " What is Merry for you?"
" Thank you for building a love bridge.”
For me it means to be able to study at a new school building.
I appreciate all, built a love bridge heart to heart ,through support of China,
Japan and Red Cross Society.

I felt there is a hopefull world from now on.
”To have much of the heart in someone"
" Flying like dickey."
Their all messages are wonderful. They have strong brightness to survive.
Chines children seem to know fun and importance to learn and know. They are earnest.
3)Red Cross of the world
This year is 150 anniversary of Red Cross.
The idea by Jean Henri Dunant "all the wounded should be rescued"
spread all over the world now.
Also here Chinese, Japanese and International Red Cross Society are working.
The start of our trip this time" MERRY IN ASIA" was last year's our donation
at Roppongi-Hills in Tokyo.
Thank you for all helped us this time.
The activity of Red Cross to cover with love the sorrow is supported
by so wonderful people.
4) Big and strong China
Still now the influence of the earthquake is remained.
Broken houses, stores, buildings and so on...
But this time we felt the strength and energy of china.
People showed us hopeful smiles to live strong.
We did clean up activity too there.
School children also took part in, were moved.
There were love from world, cross strong and beautiful people.
